Role Overview
The Information Risk Consultant will support the Security Operations Center (SOC) by leveraging industry-leading security tools and strong cybersecurity threat analysis expertise. This role focuses on preparing for, identifying, containing, eradicating, and recovering from security incidents while continuously improving detection, response, and threat-hunting capabilities.
The consultant will collaborate closely with Security Intelligence and Security Platform teams to analyze alerts, investigate incidents, and enhance defensive controls across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities
- Support SOC operations by responding to cybersecurity incidents across the incident lifecycle
- Monitor cybersecurity technologies that generate alerts requiring investigation
- Perform technical analysis of security events requiring deeper investigation
- Conduct malware analysis and extract Indicators of Compromise (IOCs)
- Feed validated IOCs into the Threat Intelligence Platform
- Learn the business and technology environment to detect anomalous or suspicious behavior
- Identify, classify, and document adversary Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs)
- Collaborate with the Security Intelligence team to enhance prevention, detection, and threat-hunting capabilities
- Partner with the Security Platforms team to develop and maintain incident response playbooks
- Optimize alerting platforms through tuning and refinement of alert logic
- Contribute to continuous improvement of cybersecurity monitoring and response processes
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience supporting a Security Operations Center (SOC)
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity threats, attack vectors, and incident response
- Hands-on experience analyzing security alerts and events
- Familiarity with malware analysis concepts and IOC extraction
- Understanding of adversary behavior and threat frameworks (e.g., TTPs)
- Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across security and technology teams
Additional Skills (Preferred)
- Experience with threat intelligence platforms
- Exposure to alert tuning and detection engineering
- Familiarity with security automation and response playbooks
- Strong communication skills for documenting and explaining technical findings
