Are you the go-to problem solver for complex machines?
If you thrive on diagnosing both mechanical and electrical issues, keeping precision equipment aligned, and bringing CNCs back from fault codes to first-piece quality, read on.
You will tackle
- Diverse work across installation, leveling, diagnostics, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repair for horizontal/vertical lathes and mills, shapers, hobs, cranes, and hoists.
- Laser alignment and ballbar analysis; verify and tune machine performance.
- Rigging and commissioning equipment; layout and install all required services.
- Machining, installation, maintenance, and renovation work for equipment, hand tools, and auxiliaries; may include HVAC, plant buildings, facilities, and utilities.
- Electrical/electronic system installation, service, diagnostics, and repair on machines and auxiliaries; may include HVAC, buildings, facilities, and utilities.
- Testing for full mechanical/electrical functionality after any repair, modification, or installation.
- Auditing facility security and utility services; resolve and/or escalate issues.
- Issuing/completing work orders in the maintenance system; calling outside suppliers for parts and technical services; requesting quotes.
Your edge
- Controls fluency: Fanuc, Mazak (Mazatrol), Siemens, Okuma OSP, and Haas; Heidenhain exposure is a plus.
- Metrology advantage: Renishaw probing and ballbar systems knowledge.
- Legacy mastery: experience with older shapers and hobs (Fellows, Liebherr, Pfauter).
- Blueprint-to-build: able to create/read/update blueprints; sheet metal, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical schematics; PLC wiring diagrams and programs; and circuit diagrams.
- From rebuilds to new installs: execute mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic work on new equipment and rebuild projects with complete documentation, including hydraulics, pneumatics, PLC wiring/programming, and mechanical systems.
- CNC upgrades: diagnose, repair, and upgrade CNC mechanical and electrical components.
- Electrical competence: install/maintain motors, power and lighting circuits, starters, and circuit breakers; troubleshoot solid-state controls.
- Hydraulic insight: read and interpret hydraulic schematics; diagnose hydraulic issues on CNC equipment.
- Fabrication skills: cut, MIG/TIG weld, and fabricate machine parts, covers, and guarding.
- Shop math and precision: use charts, tables, handbook formulas; work confidently with precision measuring instruments and machine tool processes.
How we operate
- Document rigorously in the CMMS/maintenance system.
- Champion safety and a clean, organized workspace; lead 6S adherence.
- Share knowledge: promote teamwork, train new hires, and mentor lower classification technicians.
- Keep learning: participate in company training with cross-training across electrical and mechanical disciplines.
- Follow all safety procedures; perform other related duties as directed.
Licensing
- Electrician License required or willingness to obtain (preference for candidates already licensed).
Physical demands
- Lift, move, and manipulate up to 35 lbs.
- Comfortable with heights.
- Stand/walk for extended periods.
- Must pass PIE requirements to operate equipment.
