Industrial Automation Project Estimator 

Job Functions:

Contract to hire arrangement already in place
  1. Review customer specifications and drawings.

  2. Develop detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, fabrication, machining, automation components, and subcontracted services.

  3. Collaborate with engineering, sales, and production teams to define equipment concepts and pricing strategies.

  4. Prepare formal proposals, pricing summaries, and project scope documentation.


Skills Needed:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience estimating custom machinery, industrial equipment, or automation systems.

  • Strong knowledge of fabrication processes including welding, machining, forming, and mechanical assembly.

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, assembly drawings, and technical specifications.

  • Experience estimating material costs including steel, stainless steel, purchased components, and subcontracted services.

  • Understanding of automation components such as motors, drives, sensors, PLC systems, and industrial controls.

  • Ability to develop accurate labor estimates based on shop capabilities and manufacturing processes.

  • Experience working with bills of materials (BOMs) and cost breakdown structures.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for cost analysis and estimate tracking.

  • Experience working in a manufacturing, fabrication, or OEM equipment environment.

  • Familiarity with ERP systems and estimating software.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines.

  • Ability to work closely with engineering, production, and sales teams.

  • Experience with custom textile equipment, steam systems, or process equipment is a strong plus.

Education Desired: 4-year Bachelor’s degree

Conversion salary, 75k to 80k
