In-House Counsel | Remote (Houston Preferred)

A growing organization in the solar manufacturing and energy supply chain sector is seeking an In-House Counsel to support legal operations related to commercial contracting, trade compliance, and supply chain traceability. This role will primarily report to the Legal Director and partner with the General Counsel on select matters.

The position plays a key role in managing U.S. forced labor compliance and import traceability requirements tied to solar module manufacturing and distribution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain supply chain traceability documentation, including requirements under the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA) and related enforcement frameworks

  • Interface directly with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regarding cargo detentions, examinations, or enforcement actions

  • Prepare and submit traceability documentation and coordinate the release of detained merchandise

  • Advise internal teams on CBP standards and best practices for traceability documentation and compliance

  • Support domestic content, FEOC, and tax credit certification requirements

  • Review and negotiate commercial agreements including MSAs, supply agreements, purchase orders, NDAs, and logistics contracts

  • Provide guidance on solar manufacturing, supply chain, and distribution matters

  • Support trade and import compliance matters including tariffs, AD/CVD, and Section 301 issues

  • Manage routine legal matters and coordinate with outside counsel as needed

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor and active U.S. bar admission required

  • Approximately 3+ years of legal experience

  • Experience in solar manufacturing or energy supply chain environments required

  • Strong knowledge of UFLPA compliance and forced labor regulations

  • Familiarity with CBP documentation standards and supply chain traceability requirements

  • Experience handling CBP detentions or import compliance matters strongly preferred

  • Mandarin proficiency is a plus but not required

  • Intellectual Property experience is a plus but not required

Compensation

  • $200K range + bonus eligibility and full benefits

Location

  • Remote role, with preference for candidates located in Houston, Texas
