Job Summary
The I/O Technician is responsible for installing, commissioning, and testing control systems within the data center environment. This includes the monitoring and control of HVAC, power, lighting, and other building automation systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability. This role works closely with engineering and operations teams to verify all systems are functioning efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Commissioning
Install, test, and commission control systems including HVAC, electrical, and lighting systems.
Configure, calibrate, and validate control systems to meet operational and performance requirements.
Monitoring & Optimization
Monitor system performance to ensure efficient and reliable operation.
Adjust programming and system parameters to improve performance and energy efficiency.
Respond to alarms/alerts, diagnose root causes, and implement corrective actions.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, configurations, and system changes.
Generate reports on system performance, energy usage, and maintenance activities.
Collaboration
Partner with engineers, technicians, and facility personnel to coordinate tasks and ensure seamless operations.
Provide technical support and guidance to team members when needed.
Compliance & Safety
Ensure control systems comply with applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
Follow all safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
Qualifications
Education
Associate degree or technical certification in electrical, mechanical, control systems engineering, or a related field.
Equivalent direct experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
Experience
Minimum 3 years of experience working with control systems in a data center or comparable environment.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in control system programming, configuration, and troubleshooting.
Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, and building automation systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and documentation.
Familiarity with BMS (Building Management Systems) or SCADA platforms preferred.
Experience performing I/O checkouts.
