Hyperscale Data Center Fiber Procurement Manager
(Telecom / Network Infrastructure Supply Chain)
Position Overview
The Fiber Procurement Manager is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing the supply chain for fiber-optic cable, connectivity infrastructure, and related telecom distribution materials supporting large-scale hyperscale data center construction and expansion programs.
This role ensures cost-effective procurement, vendor performance, and timely delivery of fiber infrastructure required for campus, metro, and long-haul connectivity supporting hyperscale cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Procurement
- Lead sourcing and procurement of fiber-optic cable, conduit systems, splice enclosures, distribution panels, and related telecom materials
- Develop procurement strategies for hyperscale data center network infrastructure deployments
- Negotiate Master Supply Agreements (MSA) and Long-Term Supply Agreements (LTSA) with fiber manufacturers and distributors
- Manage vendor relationships with fiber manufacturers and telecom infrastructure suppliers
Vendor & Supply Chain Management
- Identify and onboard strategic suppliers for fiber infrastructure
- Evaluate vendors based on:
- cost competitiveness
- production capacity
- logistics capability
- quality standards
- Manage supplier performance and mitigate supply chain risks for large-scale builds
Project & Construction Support
- Work closely with data center construction teams, network engineering, and telecom deployment teams
- Support fiber procurement for campus builds, metro interconnects, and long-haul routes
- Align procurement with construction schedules and commissioning timelines
- Coordinate delivery logistics for hyperscale buildouts
Contracting & Cost Optimization
- Lead contract negotiations for fiber materials and telecom infrastructure components
- Drive cost reduction initiatives through:
- volume aggregation
- supplier competition
- long-term sourcing strategies
- Monitor commodity pricing impacting fiber manufacturing (glass, polymers, metals)
Risk & Supply Continuity
- Develop contingency plans for fiber supply shortages
- Manage inventory strategies and lead times
- Track geopolitical and manufacturing risks affecting telecom supply chains
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain
- Experience procuring fiber-optic infrastructure or telecom network components
- Strong understanding of:
- fiber optic cable types (single-mode, multi-mode)
- telecom distribution hardware
- outside plant (OSP) infrastructure
- Experience supporting large infrastructure or data center projects
- Proven negotiation and vendor management experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting hyperscale data center deployments
- Knowledge of OSP fiber construction and telecom network architecture
- Familiarity with fiber manufacturers such as:
- Corning Incorporated
- CommScope
- Prysmian Group
- OFS Fitel
- Experience working with telecom contractors and fiber installation firms
