The Fluid Conveyance Project Manager position is a role within Hydraquip's fluid conveyance division, overseeing project execution, client relationships, and operational performance across hose, fittings, valves, and related fluid conveyance products and solutions. This position works in close partnership with outside sales representatives, purchasing, and warehouse personnel to drive project success from initiation through delivery. The Fluid Conveyance Project Manager will be responsible for monitoring departmental progress and ensuring alignment with company goals and quality standards across all assigned projects and customer engagements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review and analyze activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine departmental and project progress toward stated goals and objectives.
  • Fulfill client requests and manage order processing from receipt through delivery, ensuring accuracy and timeliness at every stage.
  • Promote and effectively sell supplier products using established company best practices, leveraging deep product knowledge to drive customer confidence.
  • Identify and promote value-added upselling opportunities to clients, aligning product recommendations with their operational needs and project requirements.
  • Support outside sales representatives in technical, pricing, and delivery aspects of fluid conveyance products and solutions.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of fluid conveyance products including hoses, couplings, fittings, valves, adapters, and related components.
  • Manage customer communications via phone and email, providing timely and professional responses to inquiries, quotes, order updates, and delivery coordination.
  • Coordinate with internal departments—including purchasing, engineering, and warehouse teams—to ensure seamless project execution and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage quotes, order entry, expediting, product issues, and returns for assigned customers and projects.
  • Uncover and communicate new business opportunities for outside sales through engagement with current and prospective customers.
  • Support and participate in the organization's continual improvement program to conform to ISO 9001 requirements, and understand the implications of not conforming with Quality Management System requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor or Associate degree is a plus
  • Certified as a Fluid Power Connector & Conductor is preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • 3–5 years of experience in project management, inside sales, or a related role within fluid conveyance, fluid power, or industrial distribution.
  • Demonstrated experience managing client relationships, order processing, and coordinating with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience promoting and selling technical products using consultative sales approaches.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook and Excel; experience with ERP/order entry systems (e.g., Epicor P21) strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001 environment a plus.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to track and prioritize multiple accounts and deliverables simultaneously.
  • Sound problem-solving skills; ability to make informed decisions with confidence and initiative.
  • Solid understanding of fluid conveyance products and applications, or a strong willingness to develop technical proficiency.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with customers, teammates, and cross-departmental personnel.
  • Strong communication skills; able to convey technical and conceptual information clearly, concisely, and professionally via phone, email, and in-person interactions.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational habits; ensures all project information is accurately documented, tracked, and communicated to relevant stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated and results-driven, with a proactive approach to identifying and capitalizing on upselling and business development opportunities.
