Job Summary
IES Residential is seeking an experienced HVAC Superintendent to lead field operations for residential and light commercial projects in the Austin, Texas area. This leadership role oversees HVAC foremen and field crews, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with company quality standards.
The HVAC Superintendent is responsible for coordinating manpower, supporting project managers, maintaining safety compliance, and developing field leadership while promoting a culture of accountability, training, and performance.
Responsibilities
Project Oversight
Coordinate HVAC projects through assigned foremen and field leaders.
Plan workforce needs and allocate manpower efficiently across projects.
Work closely with project managers to maintain project timelines, budgets, and installation quality.
Ensure field drawings and documentation are accurate and updated with preconstruction and drafting teams.
Monitor project progress and address field issues that could impact schedules or productivity.
Field Leadership
Supervise HVAC foremen and crews to ensure productivity, safety, and quality standards are met.
Review daily job reports, inspections, and site conditions.
Attend weekly production and jobsite meetings.
Resolve field challenges, manpower conflicts, and coordination issues with other trades.
Maintain clear communication with project teams and management.
Training & Development
Support training initiatives for field leadership and material handling procedures.
Assist in developing trade skill assessments and onboarding evaluations.
Mentor and coach field employees to improve performance and productivity.
Collaborate with the training team to enhance trade training programs.
Safety & Compliance
Ensure all job sites comply with company policies and OSHA safety standards.
Promote a safe and accountable work culture across all crews.
Conduct safety observations and reinforce safe work practices.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum 5 years of HVAC experience.
At least 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role in construction or HVAC.
Experience managing manpower planning, job costing, and construction quality.
Skills
Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, materials, installation methods, and tools.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and project documentation.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to read, write, and speak English to understand safety procedures and communicate effectively with teams.
Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb ladders for extended periods.
Ability to access rooftops, attics, crawl spaces, and confined areas.
Ability to demonstrate the use of HVAC tools and equipment for training or instruction.
Ability to work in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, and humidity.
Work Environment
Work is performed primarily on active residential and light commercial construction sites.
Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
Work may occur in attics, crawl spaces, rooftops, and dusty environments.
Noise levels may range from moderate to loud due to construction equipment.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required on job sites.
Travel to multiple job sites throughout the Austin, Texas area is required.
