Job Description

Aramark is hiring an HVAC Maintenance Technician to support 24/7 facilities and Central Plant operations at Meharry Medical College. This position is responsible for the operation, monitoring, repair, maintenance, and installation of HVAC and refrigeration systems, with additional responsibility for monitoring high-pressure steam boilers and Central Plant systems during assigned shifts.

This role is ideal for a technician with EPA refrigerant certification, hands-on HVAC experience, and the flexibility to work a rotating shift schedule in a mission-critical higher education and healthcare environment. Training will be provided for boiler and Central Plant monitoring responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, inspect, test, maintain, and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems

  • Service systems supporting:

    • Air conditioning and heating

    • Cooling water systems

    • Refrigeration and ventilation

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and document completed work

  • Calibrate, repair, and maintain pneumatic control systems

  • Inspect, clean, service, and replace filters in air handling and heating units

  • Clean and maintain ductwork, grills, shaftways, and exhaust systems

  • Troubleshoot HVAC system issues and coordinate repairs with other skilled trades

  • When scheduled, serve as Boiler Attendant, monitoring and documenting safe boiler operations in accordance with the Systems Operation Manual

  • Respond to emergency repair and maintenance situations

  • Maintain accurate records, logs, and work order documentation

  • Track and maintain inventory of tools, parts, and materials

  • Follow all OSHA, state, federal, and Aramark safety policies

  • Maintain a professional, customer-focused attitude with faculty, staff, students, and coworkers

Qualifications

  • EPA Refrigerant Certification ? Required

  • Previous HVAC maintenance experience required

  • Ability to troubleshoot HVAC systems independently

  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays

  • Ability to follow safety procedures due to physical and environmental risks

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a facilities team

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
