HVAC Development Engineer – Fort Lauderdale, FL
The Opportunity
Our client is a global equipment manufacturer that has hired us to recruit an HVAC Development Engineer Leader for their Fort Lauderdale, FL, location.
This position is responsible for leading HVAC product development — including validation test planning, prototype testing, and cross-functional collaboration — to bring new and legacy products from concept through launch.
Other responsibilities include:
- Develop and execute HVAC validation test plans, specifications, and reliability testing in lab.
- Test prototypes; write and document development test reports per company standards.
- Translate customer and regulatory requirements into component-level product specifications.
- Raise and track Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) throughout the development cycle.
- Apply UL, AHRI, and ETL regulatory standards to product testing and specification.
- Support IPM and FARR simulation models for new and legacy products.
- Lead product development tasks across testing, assembly, and manufacturing.
- Apply FMEA, DRBFM, and DFMA tools to assess risk and optimize designs.
- Communicate test validation results and project status to cross-functional teams on time.
- Partner with Engineering, Marketing, Logistics, and Purchasing to support multidisciplinary
Qualifications include:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering; Mechanical or Mechatronics preferred.
- Experience with FMEA and DRBFM technical risk assessment tools.
- Knowledge of DFMA (design for manufacturing and assembly) principles.
- Ability to develop product specifications, detailing, and assembly drawings.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Preferred:
- 3+ years of HVAC knowledge and hands-on experience.
- Experience with HVAC system optimization: flow, efficiency, and capacity.
- Design experience with CAD tools such as NX or AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with FEA and/or CFD analysis tools.
- Data analysis skills using Excel or programming languages.
