We are hiring a Human Resources Generalist who brings strong HR operations skills, sound judgment, and a service mindset to help our teams do their best work.

This is a high-impact, hands-on role where you will be the main office process owner for core HR operations across locations, partnering closely with our HR Specialist and supporting leaders with consistency, compliance, and care. 


Pay and Work Setup

  • Hourly pay range:$23 to $27 per hour (commensurate with experience)
  • Hybrid role: Based out of our Butler (Mt. Chestnut) home office, with occasional in-region travel for scheduled site visits

What You Will Do

You will own or help lead the HR "engine" that keeps our organization consistent, compliant, and employee-centered.

Core HR Operations and HRIS Accuracy

  • Own HR operations execution across locations and support consistent HR processes. 
  • Maintain HRIS and timekeeping structure and data integrity, including job codes, supervisor hierarchies, and routine audits of timecards, premiums, and leave banks. 

Recruiting and Onboarding Support

  • Partner with the HR Specialist and hiring managers on requisitions, structured interviews, and offers.
  • Ensure background checks, clearances, and I-9/E-Verify requirements are completed prior to start. 
  • Oversee orientation content and standards while the HR Specialist coordinates logistics and Day 1 readiness. 

Employee Relations and Investigations Intake

  • Intake concerns, conduct preliminary fact-finding, maintain case files, and coach supervisors on progressive discipline and documentation. 
  • Attend disciplinary meetings and separations to ensure a consistent process, escalating complex or sensitive matters to the Director of Human Resources. 

Leave Administration and ADA

  • Assist in administering FMLA and related leaves, maintain required documentation, coordinate with payroll and benefits, and lead the ADA interactive process with documented outcomes. 

Labor Relations and Compliance

  • Support labor relations administration under the collective bargaining agreement, including grievance registers, timelines, and step meeting coordination.
  • Maintain compliance calendars, role-based clearances, mandated reporter requirements, and monthly compliance dashboards for leadership. 
  • Apply HR practices aligned with Head Start Performance Standards and applicable funding and regulatory requirements. 

Decision Authority (How You Will Work)

  • Apply established policies and procedures to routine and moderately complex HR matters. 
  • Advise supervisors on consistent corrective action steps and documentation.
  • Escalate complex investigations, high-risk separations, legal inquiries, union strategy questions, and policy interpretations to the Director of Human Resources.

What You Bring

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field 
  • 3 to 5 years of progressive HR experience 
  • Working knowledge of employment law and HR operations 
  • Proficiency with HRIS and timekeeping platforms and Microsoft Office 

Preferred

  • SHRM-CP or PHR
