JOB SUMMARY: The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) serves as a strategic partner and trusted advisor to a defined business unit, aligning human resources initiatives with organizational goals. This role plays a key part in fostering a high-performance culture that is inclusive, collaborative, and aligned with company values. The HRBP proactively identifies HR needs and implements forward-thinking strategies that enhance the employee experience and strengthen leadership capabilities.

 

To align to operational needs, this role is in the Gaithersburg, MD office 3 days a week and telecommutes from home office 2 days a week.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Serve as a strategic partner to managers by providing coaching, insight, and HR expertise to support team and business objectives.
  • Lead employee relations initiatives, including investigations and resolution strategies, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Analyze organizational data and trends to identify workforce challenges and recommend solutions that support business growth and employee engagement.
  • Design and implement programs to enhance the employee experience, including recognition, engagement, and retention strategies.
  • Collaborate across departments to improve and expand professional development and learning programs.
  • Support key lifecycle processes including onboarding, offboarding, internal transitions, and change management.
  • Provides recommendations to management on non-compensation benefits and assists with implementation when necessary.
  • Manages employee engagement and feedback surveys, reviews feedback and collaborates with management for improvement.
  • Responds to employee inquiries related to payroll, benefits, and company policies, or facilitates resolution by directing them to the appropriate resources. Supports the recruiting and talent acquisition efforts to help grow the organization.
  • Works with Recruiting to contribute to the new hire onboarding process and leads New Hire Orientation Sessions.
  • Provides overall leadership and accountability for new team member acclimation activities such orientation, onboarding check-ins, onboarding survey data, etc.
  • Facilitates the administration of HR projects and programs including employee engagement, performance management, compliance training, compensation, and learning and development.
  • Supports HR team initiatives and contributes to shared goals.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to employee and manager inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and HR practices.
  • Handles confidential and non-routine information in a professional manner.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with employees at all levels, supporting a culture of trust and accountability.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of employee data within HR systems.
  • Maintain compliance with all internal policies, external regulations, and safety standards.
  • Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of HR systems, processes, and strategic goals.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or related discipline or substitute equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of five (5+) years of HR experience or equivalent relevant experience in a professional environment.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR credentials preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of HR best practices, laws, and regulations (e.g., FMLA, ADA, FLSA).
  • Proven experience in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience using various HRIS applications.
  • Valid driver's license and personal auto insurance.


WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The majority of work for this role is performed in a home office and/or professional office and interacts with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities and abilities. Telecommuters are expected to have sufficient home office space that appears neat, organized and professional when on video meetings. Travel may be required.
