About the Dream Center:The Dream Center at The University of Utah Student Affairs Division supports the holistic development of all students, including undocumented students and those systematically impacted by immigration, empowering them to thrive both at the university and beyond.Job Summary:The Dream Center Graduate Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the mission of holistically serving undocumented students, with and without DACA, in higher education. This position provides key support in administrative duties, day-to-day operations, student services, and programmatic efforts across the Dream Center.The Graduate Assistant will meet one-on-one with students to provide non-academic advisement focused on navigating post-college pathways, including career exploration, graduate school preparation, and entrepreneurship. They will also support students in getting involved with on- and off-campus opportunities and navigating personal and interpersonal challenges such as family dynamics, roommate issues, and general life circumstances. Warm referrals to campus and community-based resources are a key aspect of this role.Some programmatic responsibilities include assisting in the development, coordination, and implementation of student-centered events and workshops that support belonging, professional growth, personal empowerment, graduate school readiness, and entrepreneurial exploration. Tasks may involve event planning, logistics, communication, facilitation, and data collection to ensure continuous improvement.This position is ideal for a graduate student who is compassionate, detail-oriented, and equity-driven, with a strong commitment to student support, advocacy, and holistic success in higher education.What Youll GainHands-On Student Support Experience: Build skills in one-on-one student guidance, mentoring, and resource navigation for students navigating complex academic and personal paths.Program & Event Coordination: Learn the logistics and planning behind impactful student-centered events, workshops, and initiatives.Professional Communication Skills: Strengthen your interpersonal, written, and verbal communication through daily interaction with students, staff, and campus partners.Digital Media & Design Skills: Gain experience using Canva and managing social media to promote programs, build digital presence, and connect with student communities.Knowledge of Higher Education Support Systems: Develop insight into how institutions support undocumented students and deepen your understanding of policies, opportunities, and challenges in this space.Confidence in Leadership & Collaboration: Grow your ability to lead projects, collaborate with a mission-driven team, and take initiative in a supportive, fast-paced environment.
