Waldinger has an opportunity for a qualified HR Technology Architect – Payroll & Financial Integrated Systems based out of our Des Moines Office.

 

Job Summary:
Designs, architects, and optimizes payroll and financially integrated human resources systems to ensure accuracy, compliance, scalability, and operational efficiency. Applies deep technical expertise in complex data flows, payroll calculations, integrations, and regulatory considerations to translate business and compliance requirements into sustainable system designs. Serves as a senior technical advisor for payroll architecture, strengthening data integrity across integrated platforms and guiding architectural decisions through disciplined, cross‑functional problem solving. Contributes to team effectiveness by establishing architectural standards, sharing technical expertise, and partnering closely with HR Technology leadership to drive continuous improvement across the payroll ecosystem.

 

Responsibilities:
• Architecture and System Design: Designs and validates end to end payroll and financially integrated solutions, ensuring data accuracy, auditability, compliance, and scalability. Defines data flows, calculations, integrations, and workflows that align with business and financial requirements.
• Solution Configuration and Optimization: Leads system configuration, testing strategy, and validation for complex payroll scenarios. Identifies workflow inefficiencies and performance gaps, redesigning processes to increase reliability, processing speed, and visibility into payroll data.
• Complex Issue Resolution: Serves as the escalation point for highly complex payroll and integration issues. Diagnoses root causes across systems and data flows, develops balanced solutions, and ensures operational continuity while maintaining compliance standards.
• Technical Leadership and Mentorship: Mentors analysts and technical team members to strengthen architectural thinking, data structure knowledge, and troubleshooting capability. Establishes documentation standards, design patterns, and governance practices to ensure long term system stability.
• Continuous Improvement and Innovation: Identifies opportunities to streamline payroll processes, reduce manual effort, and improve financial alignment. Evaluates emerging technology capabilities and applies enhancements that create measurable organizational value.
• Additional Responsibilities: Performs other duties as assigned

 

Requirements:
• 8-10 years of progressive experience in human resources technology platforms, payroll systems, enterprise business systems, or financially integrated platforms
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, Accounting or Finance, or Business Administration with a technology, ERP, or systems focus is preferred.
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), Workday Pro Payroll certification, or equivalent payroll, HRIS, or enterprise platform certifications is preferred.
