HR Generalist 

Summary
Assist the HR Manager with a variety of HR functions.  Compile and record employee time and payroll data. May compute employees' time worked, production, and commissions. May compute and post time, wages, and deductions or prepare paychecks using ADP Advantage Web-Based Software. The HR Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with the HR Manager and General Manager in supporting local HR functions. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits enrollment, employee relations, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action, and employment law compliance.


Essential Functions

 

  • Compile payroll data such as garnishments, vacation time, insurance, and 401(k) deductions.
  • Poll electronic time clocks (ADP software) and review the downloaded information for completeness and accuracy.
  • Contact various department supervisors for any missed times.
  • Process weekly payroll data in ADP and prepare for Management approval.
  • Compile internal management reports from payroll system software.
  • Administer various human resource plans and procedures for all organization personnel; assist in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
  • Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems and be a part of the local Management Team.
  • Perform benefits assistance, assist with enrollment, changes, and provide input to Management.
  • Assist with recruitment efforts for all exempt and nonexempt personnel, students, and temporary employees; conduct new-employee orientations; and write and place advertisements and/or work with recruiters and recruiting agencies.
  • Participate in administrative staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars.
  • Maintain company organization charts and the employee directory.
  • Assist in the evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of the department in relation to established goals. Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to continually improve the efficiency of the department and services performed.
  • Maintain human resource records and compile reports as required.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position.
Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 am – 4:30 pm, and Fridays 7 – 2 pm.


Travel
Limited travel is expected for this position. Will attend the annual Corporate HR/Payroll Conference in Florida and travel as required.


Required Education and Experience
  • High school diploma and a solid, positive job history.
  • Bachelors in relevant field or Associate's degree (A.A) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
     
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
  • Exceptional communication skills in English in both verbal and written form.
