Job Overview

The Hospital Lab Supervisor – Chemistry is responsible for the overall management and operational leadership of hospital laboratory services, ensuring quality, compliance, and contract performance. This role acts as a key leader within the Professional Lab Services (PLS) team, supporting hospital partnerships by delivering high-quality laboratory operations, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead and manage hospital laboratory operations, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
• Develop and implement quality control and follow-up procedures, analyzing performance data and preparing reports.
• Oversee Laboratory Supervisors and staff to ensure effective daily operations and adherence to standards.
• Partner with regional and national PLS leadership to develop and execute lab management integration plans.
• Manage implementation, startup, and ongoing delivery of hospital laboratory management services.
• Serve as a primary operations liaison between hospital clients, internal leadership, and cross-functional partners.
• Ensure successful contract launches and ongoing operations, including monthly and quarterly reporting on productivity, quality, equipment, and workflows.
• Coordinate stat, off-hours, and reference testing services to ensure contract terms and service levels are met.
• Collaborate with supply chain and procurement to maintain efficient inventory and resource management.
• Manage departmental budgets, labor productivity, cost-per-test metrics, and financial activities.
• Lead or participate in internal, client, and cross-functional meetings and project planning efforts.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Six Sigma and change management principles.

Skills & Qualifications

Required Skills

• Strong laboratory management and leadership experience in a hospital or clinical lab environment.
• Expertise in regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and laboratory operations.
• Excellent project management, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Strong client-facing and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with laboratory consolidation initiatives.
• Lean Six Sigma or continuous improvement methodologies.
• Advanced understanding of data analytics and performance metrics.

Education, Licensure & Experience

Education: Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree preferred.
Experience:
5+ years of managerial experience in the laboratory industry required.
– Prior hospital laboratory management experience strongly preferred.
Licensure:
New York State Clinical Laboratory Scientist license required.
