QUALIFICATIONS

Job Requirements:

Associate’s degree in Diesel Technology or a related field preferred.
3 years or more mechanic experience with heavy equipment may supplement a degree.
Experience with CAT, CASE, John Deere, Komatsu, Link Belt, Kenworth, Mack, and/or Peterbilt equipment preferred.
Ability to sit, stand, climb, bend, kneel, crawl and squat as needed.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently.
Ability to perform overhead and elevated work required.
Must provide own tools and toolbox.
Experience with hoisting and/or overhead cranes is preferred.
Class A or B CDL preferred. Clean driving record required. (medical card is NOT required)
 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Mechanics work from 6:30am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday. Rotational weekend overtime required as necessary (during peak working season). 

Job Summary:

Sandstone Management Ltd. is seeking skilled and dedicated Heavy Equipment Mechanics to join our team. The ideal candidates will have a strong background in mechanical knowledge and experience with diesel engine repair, automotive repair, and hydraulics. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards.

Duties:

Diagnose mechanical issues in heavy equipment and perform necessary repairs.
Assemble and transmit parts for equipment as needed.
Conduct routine maintenance on diesel engines, including troubleshooting and repairs.
Operate lube truck and perform field service preventative maintenance.
Repair hydraulic systems to ensure proper functionality.
Work with various types of heavy machinery, including Caterpillar, Case, John Deere, Komatsu, Link Belt, Kenworth, Mack, and/or Peterbilt.
Weld components as required to maintain or enhance equipment integrity.
Provide excellent service by communicating effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote safety and efficiency.
Evaluate equipment manuals and order necessary parts via online platforms.
Provide a positive attitude and work well with others.
 

Experience: 

Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic or similar role.
Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in diesel engine repair, automotive repair, and hydraulics.
Familiarity with popular heavy equipment machinery brands is preferred but not mandatory.
Ability to weld and perform basic fabrication tasks is advantageous.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with team members.

Mechanics complete a wide variety of repairs on heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, loaders, tractors, compaction equipment, trucks, trailers and other production vehicles.

We are currently hiring mechanics / field service technicians dedicated to heavy equipment.  Additional responsibilities may include working in the main shop during downtime (rain days and/or winter).                                           

Mechanics work from 7:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday. Rotational weekend overtime required as necessary (during peak working season). 

Benefits:   

Mechanics will start at $39.36 per hour, based on experience. Sandstone Management Ltd. pays 100% of all benefits, including health insurance premiums and pension dues, as provided by Local 234 Operating Engineers Union. 

Overtime is paid after 40 hours per week, and employees are paid weekly on every Friday.

This position will be required to work in an environment with exposure to elements such as extreme temperatures and various weather conditions, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. There is frequent lifting and/or moving of up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
