Health Information Technician
Location
Columbus, OH
Pay Rate
$17.00/hour
Shift
Monday–Friday
6:30 AM – 2:30 PM
Key Responsibilities
Inventory & Storeroom Duties
- Order medical and office supplies from approved vendors
- Monitor inventory levels and replenish stock as needed
- Perform cycle counts and regular stock checks
- Rotate inventory using First In, First Out (FIFO) methodology
- Remove, document, and properly package expired items
- Unpack and verify supplies upon receipt; report discrepancies
- Maintain PAR levels and issue inventory to designated locations
- Pack and process returns; ensure return labels are accurate
- Track inbound and outbound orders to prevent overstocking or shortages
- Forecast supply needs to ensure continuous availability
Administrative & Supply Chain Support
- Retrieve requisitions from electronic materials management systems
- Maintain accurate inventory, purchasing, and pricing records
- Generate inventory and supply chain reports
- Analyze inventory and supply chain data to identify issues
- Coordinate logistics for purchase orders, transfers, deliveries, and tagging
- Respond to internal customer and supplier inquiries regarding orders
General Duties
- Answer phones and take verbal orders
- Ensure medical equipment availability (wheelchairs, crutches, canes, braces, etc.)
- Identify and report equipment or supply issues
- Assist in covering short-staffed units when needed
- Maintain a professional, approachable customer service attitude
- Promote the organization’s mission, vision, and values
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in inventory management , storeroom operations, or medical supply handling
- Strong Excel skills (must be clearly demonstrated on resume)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain accurate records and reports
- Comfortable working in a correctional healthcare environment
