Musashi Japanese Fusion in Frisco is seeking an experienced and passionate Head Sushi Chef to lead our sushi bar operations. We are a high-quality Japanese restaurant focused on serving premium seafood and authentic sushi with creativity and precision.
This leadership position is responsible for overseeing sushi preparation, managing seafood inventory, ordering product, maintaining food quality standards, and ensuring an exceptional guest experience.
We are looking for a chef who takes pride in their craft and can help elevate the sushi program while working closely with ownership and kitchen leadership.
Responsibilities
Prepare sushi, sashimi, nigiri, and specialty rolls with precision and consistency
Break down and cut whole fish while maintaining top quality standards
Manage seafood inventory and daily prep levels
Order fish and sushi-related ingredients from vendors
Monitor food cost and minimize waste
Maintain cleanliness and food safety standards at the sushi bar
Train and mentor sushi chefs and kitchen staff
Assist with menu development and seasonal specials
Ensure presentation meets Musashi s high standards
Communicate with management regarding inventory needs and product quality
Qualifications
(Head Sushi Chef experience preferred)
Strong knife skills and experience breaking down whole fish
Knowledge of Japanese seafood, sushi rice preparation, and traditional techniques
Experience with seafood ordering and inventory management
Ability to work in a fast-paced restaurant environment
Leadership experience managing a sushi team
Passion for quality, consistency, and guest satisfaction
