Job Details

We are seeking a Field Applications Engineer with expertise in tundish and ingot casting applications to join our North America team. In this role, you’ll partner directly with steel producers to deliver technical solutions that improve safety, efficiency, and product quality. You will act as the primary technical resource for customers, while also supporting product innovation, field trials, and technology transfer initiatives.

This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys being in the field, solving complex challenges, and applying metallurgical and refractory knowledge to real-world steelmaking operations.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the primary technical contact for tundish and ingot-related applications, supporting customers with troubleshooting, optimization, and solution design.

Conduct on-site technical trials, performance reviews, and product demonstrations to validate solutions and ensure customer satisfaction.

Collaborate with sales, R&D, operations, and global product teams to introduce new technologies and transfer innovations to plant-level operations.

Provide technical training and presentations to sales teams, field service, and customers to strengthen tundish and ingot product knowledge.

Collect and analyze process and performance data, driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Monitor competitor technologies, customer feedback, and market trends to guide future product development.

Develop technical documentation including procedures, process maps, and reports to support field applications.

Travel regularly to customer sites across North America (and internationally as needed).

Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Ceramics Engineering, or related technical discipline.

3–7 years of experience in steelmaking, refractory, or casting applications (tundish or ingot experience preferred).

Strong technical foundation in steelmaking processes with the ability to apply solutions in a production environment.

Excellent communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills with a customer-focused mindset.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with CAD or modeling tools is a plus.

Willingness to travel frequently.

What You’ll Gain

A hands-on, customer-facing role where your technical expertise directly impacts steelmaking operations.

The opportunity to shape and influence future tundish and ingot technologies through field applications.

A collaborative environment with global experts in metallurgy, product development, and operations.

Competitive compensation, benefits, and career growth in a specialized engineering field.
