Toybox is building the next generation creative platform for kids through 3D printing. Our ecosystem combines hardware printers, consumables, and a fast-growing subscription platform that lets kids instantly create and print toys from a massive digital library.
Toybox has grown to $30M+ in annual revenue, selling over 200,000 printers globally through ecommerce, retail, and international distribution. As we continue scaling, we are looking for a Head of Finance / VP Finance to build and lead the company’s finance function.
This is a foundational leadership role reporting directly to the CEO. You will build the financial infrastructure, lead strategic financial planning, and hire the accounting team needed to support Toybox’s next phase of growth.
Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Planning
- Build and maintain the company’s financial model and long-range planning framework
- Develop 3-statement forecasts, cash flow models, and scenario analyses
- Lead annual budgeting and ongoing financial forecasting
- Provide financial insights to leadership to support strategic decision making
- Prepare financial materials for investors, board discussions, and financing partners
Business Analytics & Unit Economics
- Develop LTV and CAC models across ecommerce, retail, and distribution channels
- Perform cohort and contribution margin analysis
- Evaluate bundling and pricing strategies
- Identify opportunities to improve unit economics and marketing efficiency
- Build dashboards and reporting tools for leadership visibility
Inventory & Hardware Financial Operations
- Build COGS and landed cost models including manufacturing, freight, tariffs, and duties
- Analyze inventory capital and working capital requirements
- Partner with operations and logistics teams to reconcile 3PL inventory data
- Develop models to determine optimal inventory buffers and purchasing timing
Accounting Oversight & Finance Infrastructure
- Oversee accounting operations including month-end close and financial statements
- Design scalable financial processes and controls
- Manage accounting systems and tools (QuickBooks, payment systems, payroll providers)
- Hire and manage a Senior Accountant / Controller-level operator
- Ensure data integrity across ecommerce, subscription, and logistics systems
Capital Strategy & Financing
- Manage company cash planning and liquidity
- Build financing strategies to support company growth
- Work with lenders and financial partners on credit facilities and working capital financing
- Support potential future fundraising or strategic transactions
Tax & Compliance
- Oversee financial preparation for tax filings
- Coordinate with external tax advisors
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and international tax requirements
- Manage Delaware and California franchise tax filings
Ideal Candidate
- 7–15 years of experience in finance, FP&A, corporate finance, or startup finance leadership
- Experience building financial models and forecasts
- Experience overseeing accounting functions and monthly close processes
- Strong analytical ability and comfort working with messy operational data
- Experience in high-growth startups or scale-up companies
- Bonus: experience with ecommerce, consumer hardware, subscriptions, or inventory businesses

- Hire and onboard a senior accounting operator
- Establish scalable financial infrastructure for continued growth
Compensation
Salary: $150k – $180k
