Head Cheer & STUNT Coach

Concordia University Chicago (CUC) invites applications for the full-time, exempt position of Head Cheer & STUNT Coach. This position reports directly to the Director of Athletics and is located in River Forest, IL.
The Head Cheer & STUNT Coach is responsible for coaching the STUNT program and leading the sideline and competition cheer teams. This position will oversee direct coaching, recruiting qualified student athletes, fundraising, leading camps, developing schedules, budget management, building community support for the program, monitoring academic progress of student athletes, and maintaining knowledge of applicable NCAA, AACCA, USA Cheer, and STUNT rules.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Oversees all aspects of the STUNT and sideline cheer teams, including coaching and recruiting student athletes
- Schedules, plans, and executes practices to develop skills and techniques in student athletes in preparation for competitions and STUNT games
- Ensures a sideline cheer team is present and participating at all home football and basketball games, in addition to other athletics and University events
- Assists in fundraising activities to enhance spirit programs
- Assists administration with alumni relations and support events
- Evaluates and recruits qualified student athletes that fit within the athletic program and university
- Develops student-athletes to be contributing members to the campus community and the community at large
- Monitors class schedules, grades, and academic progress of program student athletes
- Models good sportsmanship and enforces respectful, sportsmanlike behavior among student athletes
- Candidates must support and be committed to the mission and identity of Concordia University Chicago, a university of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (LCMS)
Skill Sets:
- Knowledge of NCAA Division III, STUNT, USA Cheer, and NCA as well as an understanding of the NCAA Division III student athlete philosophy
- A demonstrated commitment to personal growth, embracing Christian values in a collegiate setting, exercising mature judgment, and being a skilled student development educator
- Strong interpersonal and conflict management skills
- Expertise in the recruitment and retention of student athletes in cheer, STUNT, and university settings
- A demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to diverse student populations
- A commitment to providing superior care to students, including a strong work ethic and flexibility to respond to student needs outside of traditional office hours
- Strong administrative skills, including related computer and technology skills
- Superior verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Enthusiastic supporter of Lutheran higher education and Concordia University Chicago
Minimum Experience Required:
- Prior collegiate level Cheer or STUNT and/or coaching experience is required
- Prior experience in coaching tumbling is preferred
- Prior experience in recruitment is required

Bachelor's degree required
