Hardware Engineering Tech - Complex Server Racks

Day Shift 6:45 a.m. - 3:15 p.m.
This role involves building and cabling complex prototype network and server racks, supporting server-level prototype builds, and ensuring that all builds are prepared for customer Test Rack Inspections (TRI) and First Article Inspection (FAI). The ideal candidate will have experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) challenges and will be comfortable reworking prototype builds based on customer feedback.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and assemble prototype network and server racks according to engineering specifications.
- Perform complex cabling of network and server racks, ensuring high standards of quality and organization.
- Support server-level prototype builds, including system integration and troubleshooting.
- Prepare builds for customer Test Rack Inspection (TRI) and First Article Inspection (FAI), ensuring compliance with all relevant standards.
- Assist with completing tasks associated with TRI and FAI including serviceability and mechanical verification.
- Identify and communicate Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and end user serviceability challenges during the prototype build process.
- Rework prototype builds based on customer feedback and engineering design changes.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, product development, and quality teams to ensure seamless execution of prototype builds.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, always following safety procedures and best practices.
- Document build processes, issues, and resolutions to aid in future builds and design improvements.
- Associate degree or technical certification in Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 3+ years of experience in a hardware technician role, preferably with experience in building and cabling server/network racks and server level builds.
- Strong understanding of prototype build processes, cabling techniques, and DFM principles.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering schematics, blueprints, and build instructions.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment as needed (up to 50 lbs).
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
- Knowledge of network configurations and server hardware.
- Familiarity with customer test rack inspections and FAI processes.
- Hands-on experience with reworking prototypes based on feedback and iterative design changes.
