GRAPHIC ARTS AND REPRODUCTION SUPERVISOR

 

Chicago Public Library

 

Number of Positions: 1

Starting Salary:$83,052.00/Year

Under direction, supervises the activities of staff engaged in the graphic design and reproduction of materials for the Chicago Public Library.In this role, you lead both the graphic design team and the library’s in-house print unit. You ensure all materials are designed, printed and delivered accurately, on time and at a high standard of quality. Each day, you review incoming design and print requests, meet with staff to clarify needs and set priorities.

 

·        Projects include flyers, posters, brochures, signage, digital graphics and campaign materials.

 

·        Serve as lead designer on major marketing efforts and guide projects from concept through final production.

 

·        Supervise and support graphic designers and print staff.

 

·        Assign work, provide feedback, approve final files and ensure all materials meet library and City standards before printing or  distribution.

 

·        Oversee daily print operations, including scheduling jobs, managing equipment, monitoring inventory and supplies and ensuring  quality control.

 

·        Coordinate photographers for special events and maintain organized archives of design files and printed materials.

 

·        Manage the division’s budget and stay current on design tools, printing technology and industry trends to keep the team efficient and  up to date.

 

·        Provide hands-on leadership that blends creative direction, print production oversight and team management.

Qualifications

 

Qualifications

Nine (9) years of work experience in graphic design or commercial artwork, of which one (1) year is in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, OR

Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate’s degree in Graphic Arts or a directly related field, PLUS seven (7) years of work experience in graphic design or commercial artwork, of which one (1) year is in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, OR

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Arts or a directly related field, PLUS five (5) years of work experience in graphic design or commercial artwork, of which one (1) year is in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, OR

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree or higher in Graphic Arts or a directly related field, PLUS four (4) years of work experience in graphic design or commercial artwork, of which one (1) year is in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position

 

Selection Criteria

This position requires applicants to complete an interview which will include a written exercise and/or a skills assessment test as part of the interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the oral and written parts of the interview will be selected.
