National Jewish Health is seeking a Senior Grants and Financial Administrator to join the Academic Affairs & Research Support Services team. This position leads financial and administrative activities for the department, serving as the go-to expert for grant management, core management, and compliance. The role manages all aspects of institutional, grant, and restricted funds with accuracy and integrity, including budget preparation, grant submission, reconciliation, forecasting, and compliance oversight.

Position Summary
Leads financial and administrative activities in Academic Affairs and Research Support Services and supports the Department Director as needed. Serves as first contact subject-matter expert for grant management, core management, regulatory and institutional requirements. 
Essential Duties
- Develops procedures and trains financial and administrative staff and lab personnel on grant management, chargeback entry, restricted donations, and institutional cost management. This includes training in financial systems/software, appropriate expenditures, allowable travel and reimbursements, capital equipment purchases, and foundation and federal guidelines.
- Leads and trains Academic Affairs financial and administrative staff on submission of Federal, State and Foundation grants, including budget preparation, ensuring proposals are submitted in an accurate and timely manner, consistent with sponsor and institutional requirements.
- Leads and trains Programs Coordinators in financial management of grants, restricted donations, and institutional cost centers, including monthly reconciliations. Understands and ensures team processes are compliant with regulatory requirements and National Jewish Health policies. Maintains working knowledge as regulations and policies change and presents updates to team. 
- Responsible for managing the financial portfolio of assigned faculty members and laboratories, including grants, restricted donations, AEF, and core facilities. Includes creating reports, projecting payroll and other laboratory expenditures, identifying funding gaps and opportunities, and meeting regularly with investigators. 
- Responsible for reviewing grant, AEF, restricted donations and institutional expenditures for compliance with relevant regulations and policies. Creates processes and trains financial team on financial and regulatory compliance.
- Trains other Programs Coordinators on effective methods for grants administration, including overseeing accuracy and timely submission of Labor Distributions, Time and Effort reporting and Quarterly Grant Certifications. 
- Coordinates all Academic Affairs and Research Support Services affiliates and foreign nationals, including completing the a propriate paperwork to submit to Human Resources.
- Coordinates and submits core grants spanning multiple departments, and highly complex grants, including Shared Instrumentation Grants, High End Instrumentation Grants, renovation grants, etc. 
- Manages, tracks and routes department contracts and service agreements at the direction of the Director.
- Assists faculty members with the administrative responsibilities of Human Resources and Payroll. Coordinates and submits new hire requisitions, affiliate placements, annual performance evaluations, merit increases, promotions and terminations. Edits time in Kronos, the automated payroll system.
- Leads and trains Academic Affairs financial and administrative staff on chargebacks and external invoicing activities for Research Support Service Cores.

- Education: Bachelor's degree required. Major in Healthcare, Business Administration or Finance preferred.
