Grant Accountant

About our client:

  • CFS of New York is working with a midsized Non-Profit organization and they are seeking to hire a Grant Accountant immediately!
  • The organization services individuals and families regarding shelter, food, education, and has been operating for close to 50 years
  • In the past five years has doubled in operating budget and they are continuing to grow!
  • This role will be reporting to the CFO, and will play a key role developing long-term goals for the organization
  • This role will be in office while training, hybrid following, and they are located in the Bronx (commutable by many train lines)

Responsibilities of the Grant Accountant:

  • Manage the monthly analysis and timely billing of all assigned government and foundation contracts.
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly or semi-annual billing of all contracts as appropriate.
  • Follow up with all relevant government agencies ensuring client receives the maximum amount of monies due.
  • Verify collections of funds with Accounts Receivable and ensure accuracy of balances in the ledger for the assigned contracts.
  • Provide monthly updates to cash flow analysis for contracts
  • Train program staff on the proper coding of expenditures.
  • Perform monthly grant reconciliations ensuring activities fall within the funder and agency guidelines.
  • Process payroll expense re-classes as needed
  • Budgeting and Forecasting
  • Additional ad hoc responsibilities as needed

What you bring to the table:

  • 3 – 5 years’ experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Knowledge of FundEZ, Nexonia, or Intacct is a plus
