The Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Grant Accountant to oversee the financial management of grants and funding sources. This role will be responsible for ensuring compliance, accurate reporting, and proper allocation of funds in alignment with donor and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full lifecycle of grants, including setup, tracking, and closeout
  • Monitor restricted and unrestricted funds and ensure proper allocation
  • Prepare and submit grant financial reports in accordance with funding requirements
  • Work closely with program managers to track budgets and spending
  • Perform account reconciliations and support month-end and year-end close
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting for grant-funded programs
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and private grant regulations
  • Support audits and assist with documentation for external auditors
  • Maintain detailed records of grant activity and funding sources

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably within a nonprofit
  • Experience with grant accounting and fund accounting principles
  • Strong understanding of compliance and reporting requirements
  • Experience with accounting systems (MIP, Sage Intacct, or similar preferred)
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple grants and deadlines simultaneously

Nice to Have

  • Experience with federal or state grant funding (e.g., Uniform Guidance compliance)
  • Exposure to audit preparation and Form 990 support
  • Strong communication skills working cross-functionally with non-finance teams
