The Opportunity:
The Global Maintenance Strategy & Planning Lead is responsible for defining, governing, and continuously improving the global maintenance strategy and planning framework across all CSL
Behring manufacturing sites.
This role sets the long-term direction for how maintenance work is
prioritized, planned, scheduled, and resourced to support safe, compliant, and reliable operations.
The position provides strategic leadership for maintenance planning standards, shutdown and outage planning, asset care portfolios, and integration with reliability, capital, and MRO programs.
All responsibilities must be executed in alignment with CSL’s patient-focused mission and Core Values, and with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and cross-cultural collaboration.
The Role:
Global Maintenance Strategy and Roadmap -
Define and maintain the enterprise maintenance strategy and long-range roadmap that supports CSL’s operational, quality, and supply objectives across all sites.
Align maintenance strategy with global engineering, reliability, capital planning, and operations to ensure asset care supports product supply, lifecycle management, and risk reduction.
Establish global maintenance objectives, performance targets, and key metrics, and ensure they are consistently applied across the network.
Translate strategy into actionable multiyear plans, including resource and capability requirements for maintenance and planning organizations at site and regional levels.
Regularly review strategy based on performance trends, regulatory expectations, technology changes, and business priorities, and adjust the roadmap accordingly.
Network Planning and Work Management-
Define and govern the global framework for CMMS (SAP maintenance) planning and scheduling, including standardized work management processes, roles, and responsibilities.
Establish global standards for preventive and predictive maintenance planning, shutdown and turnaround planning, campaign planning, and coordination with production schedules.
Ensure that job plans, task packages, safety requirements, and spare parts needs are systematically incorporated into maintenance plans in line with cGMP expectations.
Define planning and scheduling KPIs (for example, schedule adherence, PM compliance, planning effectiveness) and use them to drive continuous improvement across the network.
Partner with site leaders to optimize the balance between planned and corrective work, reducing unplanned downtime while supporting production commitments.
Systems, Data, and Digital Maintenance Planning-
Provide global leadership for maintenance planning-related systems and data structures, including CMMS and SAP PM planning functions, work order flows, and master data.
Define standards for maintenance plans, task lists, equipment hierarchies, and asset criticality models to enable consistent planning and reporting across sites.
Support the integration of predictive and condition-based maintenance insights into planning and scheduling processes, leveraging digital tools, advanced analytics, and AI where appropriate.
Collaborate with IT, digital, and data teams to improve data visibility, dashboards, and decision support tools used for maintenance planning and capacity management.
Promote data quality, standardization, and effective use of network-wide maintenance performance data in business reviews and strategic planning.
Global Collaboration, Best Practices, and Capability Building-
Partner with site engineering, maintenance, operations, quality, EHS, supply chain, and finance to ensure maintenance strategy and planning practices are aligned with business needs and compliance expectations.
Lead or coordinate global communities of practice focused on maintenance strategy, planning and scheduling, and work management excellence.
Develop and maintain global training materials, playbooks, and toolkits that support effective maintenance planning and scheduling at all CSL sites.
Facilitate workshops, coaching, and mentoring for planners, schedulers, and maintenance leaders to build capability and reinforce standardized practices.
Demonstrate flexibility in work hours to support collaboration with global stakeholders in different time zones and to support critical planning events.

Other Responsibilities-
Provide strategic maintenance planning input for major capital projects, technology transfers, and new facility introductions to ensure maintainability and alignment with global standards.
Support audits, inspections, and internal reviews related to maintenance practices, planning, and work management systems.
Contribute to global engineering and maintenance initiatives, including maintenance excellence programs, transformation efforts, and CSL Way deployment where applicable.
Attend assigned global meetings and forums to support information flow, alignment, and decision making.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor, members of the Global Leadership Team, or other authorized leaders in support of evolving business needs and cross-functional collaboration.
Skills & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Structural, or related) or a related technical field required.
Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
7+ years of experience in maintenance, reliability, or technical operations within a manufacturing environment, preferably in pharmaceutical, biotech, or other highly regulated industries.
Extensive experience managing globally distributed teams and influencing senior stakeholders in complex organizations. Includes governance and strategic portfolio management aligned with organizational goals.
Proven experience leading maintenance strategy, work management, and planning and scheduling processes, ideally across multiple sites or regions
Experience with CMMS and enterprise systems, preferably including SAP PM, and strong familiarity with maintenance planning data, KPIs, and reporting.
Demonstrated success in implementing or governing maintenance standards, planning frameworks, or maintenance excellence programs in a complex, matrixed organization.
Experience working with cross-functional teams such as engineering, operations, supply chain, finance, and procurement on maintenance planning and investment decisions.
Strong technical understanding of maintenance principles, asset care strategies, and work management processes.
Strategic thinking skills to connect maintenance planning with long-term asset performance, supply risk, and business value.
Strong analytical capability and data-informed decision-making, including interpreting maintenance metrics, capacity data, and performance trends.
Ability to lead change and influence without authority across a global network and complex matrix organization.
Effective communication skills, including the ability to translate strategy and technical concepts into clear, actionable guidance for diverse audiences.
Cross-cultural collaboration skills with the ability to work productively with teams across different regions, languages, and cultural environments.
