Individuals hired as a General Labor Associates for our box plant in Wallula will be hired and trained to work in either the corrugator and/or converting department. The successful candidates will join our highly-ranked team and learn about our business, culture and expectations. The hourly rates vary based on department and position ranging from $27.37 to $32.94.

EXPLANATION
Employees (and their dependents) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, basic life and disability insurance coverage, subject to applicable waiting periods.
Employees are:
Automatically enrolled in PCA's 401k retirement plan at the time of hire
Eligible for 11 paid holidays after completing 30 days worked
Eligible for 40 hours vacation after completing probationary period
Reimbursed up to $150 for safety shoes after completing their introductory period
Eligible for up to $35 per month for monthly fitness membership
Annual gainshare up to 10% of earnings

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain a safety mindset.
Sets up converting and/or corrugator accurately in accordance with proper setup techniques.
Inspects all material before and after run to ensure that any necessary repairs are made before the next run.
Monitors box quality, including, but not limited to, loose liner, warp, correct size, and print.
Check rolls for damage.
Maximize the utilization of equipment by operating the machinery at available capacity and speed.
Assist others within the crew with job duties on the machine.
Complete necessary data entry and reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to: Production Data, Machine Operational Status, Safety Data, Quality Data.
Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
Submit maintenance work orders through BPMS for needed repairs.
Complete annual food packaging safety training.
Report any discovered food packaging safety risks or concerns.
Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma/GED.
Demonstrated consistent, one-year stable work history.
Strong verbal communication skills.
Ability and willingness to work rotating shifts (Typically 8-hour shifts rotating 2 weeks days, 1 week swing, 2 weeks grave, 1 week swing).
Ability and willingness to work overtime on short notice, both during the week and weekends.
Ability to work in manufacturing environment, with varying temperatures.
Ability to cross train and advance machine operation skills and troubleshooting.
Ability to recognize sounds of moving equipment and machinery for safety purposes and identifying machine issues.
Work with constant noise at a level requiring the use of hearing protection.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to read a tape measure, factory orders, print instructions and audit product.
Ability to perform simple math calculations and enter data into the computer.
Ability to verify proper ink usage.
Ability to occasionally lift/carry up to 50 pounds; as well as being willing and able to stand/walk constantly.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Continuous education and/or trade school.
Previous leadership responsibilities.
Two years forklift experience.
Good computer skills.
Demonstrated ability to be solutions oriented and proactive.
Previous corrugated experience.
Demonstrated ability to learn and work as a cohesive team member.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple requests simultaneously.
Ability to work within a team and effectively communicate with members.
Mechanical aptitude, ability to read a tape measure and have a strong attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to maneuver through computer programs to access information and enter accurate information.
Self-starter, ability to troubleshoot machinery and solutions oriented.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Starting salary range for position: $27.37 - $32.94.
Bonus: Annual - Based upon achievement of plant performance metrics.
Paid Vacation: Paid vacation based on years of service
Paid Holidays.
Stipends for both safety shoes and glasses.
Stipends for gym membership.
Within the first 30 days of employment, an employee (and their dependents) is eligible to enroll in certain benefit coverages -- medical, dental, and vision - and are automatically enrolled in life, AD&D, and disability coverages.
Upon hire, an employee is automatically enrolled in the 401k plan. The plan offers both pre-tax and Roth contribution options along with employer provided matching contributions.
