Position Overview
The firm is seeking a Public Agency General Counsel Associate for a full‑time, hybrid position. This role involves providing comprehensive legal counsel to public agencies, including guidance on governance, regulatory compliance, land use, and risk management. The Associate will draft and review a wide range of legal documents, advise clients on water law and other public agency matters, and assist in resolving disputes affecting public sector clients.

Qualifications:
J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California
Two to three years of experience providing general counsel‑type advice, preferably to public agencies or similar entities in California
Familiarity with public sector laws and frameworks, including the Ralph M. Brown Act, California Public Records Act, and California Environmental Quality Act, is a plus
Proven ability to draft and review complex contracts, ordinances, resolutions, and policies
Strong legal research, writing, and oral communication skills
High level of integrity, sound judgment, and demonstrated commitment to public service
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines simultaneously
