POSITION MINIMUM REQUIREMENT
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience:
Two years’ experience involving landscape and supporting facilities and structures.
Training:
Equivalent to the twelfth grade. Bilingual, oral and written (Spanish) preferred, not required.
License or Credential:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California’s Driver’s License issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Currently we have one open position that serves River Delta USD. We are located 12 miles from Antioch, 20 miles from Fairfield, 21 miles from Dixon, 23 miles from Lodi and Galt, 24 miles from Elk Grove, 29 miles from Vacaville.
Work Schedule:
12 Months a year
Monday - Friday
7:00 am - 3:30 pm
Classified Employees Salary Schedule
Range 11 : $22.86 - $26.50 Hourly
Placement dependent on verifiable years of experience.
Five years of credit may be granted for experience.
Placement requirement may be waived by the Board of Trustees.
Benefits up to $1500 monthly, towards the purchase of District sponsored benefits.

ABOUT THE DISTRICT
River Delta is a K-12 district with an enrollment of 1,880. The District has 8 small schools: (4) K-6 elementary schools; (2) middle schools; and (2) high schools serving the communities of Clarksburg, Hood, Courtland, Walnut Grove, Ryde, Locke, Isleton, Rio Vista, Birds Landing, and Collinsville.
The River Delta Unified School District sits in three counties – Sacramento, Solano, and Yolo. Although it is a tri-county district, it is served by the Sacramento County Office of Education.
River Delta Unified School District is committed to providing a quality education for all students and has high standards and expectations for students' success in school. We are committed to ensuring that our students meet these standards and that our clients' expectations for educational excellence are not compromised. The District continually improves and expands its curriculum by implementing new programs and broadening the instructional strategies used in the classroom.

Class specifications are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed by employees in the class. Specifications are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job.
DEFINITION
To perform a variety of functions in the maintenance and beautification of grounds and other landscaped areas; perform minor building maintenance functions; and to perform a variety of related tasks as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general supervision from the Lead Maintenance technician and the Maintenance and Operations Director.
ESSENTIAL AND MARGINAL FUNCTION STATEMENTS -- Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential Functions:
1. Conduct site inspections; identify areas that need maintaining; prepare work orders for repairs; perform grounds maintenance and related work. Identify safety trip hazards.
2. Perform a variety of functions in the maintenance of grounds, including the planting of trees, shrubs, grass, flowers and other decorative plants and the watering, fertilizing, weeding and care of landscaped areas.
3. Mow and maintain lawns; detail and edge lawns; trim shrubs and trees; sweep and clean sidewalks.
4. Maintain athletic field; line fields, shovel, sand, gravel and cushioning materials into boxes.
5. Install, inspect, maintain, and repair irrigation systems; set and adjust time clocks; repair and clean sprinkler heads; repair water and main lines.
6. Use and operate a variety of hand and power tools in performing assigned maintenance functions (such as power mower, riding mowers, chainsaws, chipper, string trimmer, backpack blower, and edger; pruning shears, shovels, channel locks, hand and electric pumps, hand and electric saws, trenchers, wire cutters) and other related equipment/tools.
7. Operate motor vehicles including light trucks and tractors plus towing trailers. Complete vehicle safety checklists as required.
8. Perform a variety of minor building maintenance functions; assist with plumbing and carpentry work; paint and clear graffiti. When appropriate, technical assistance and/or training will be provided.
9. Estimate time, materials, and equipment needed to perform assigned functions; requisition supplies and materials as required.
10. Perform minor maintenance of tools and equipment including preventive maintenance on power equipment.
Marginal Functions:
1. Move furniture, supplies, and other equipment; assist in setting up for special events.
2. Perform routine minor vehicle maintenance in an emergency situation.
3. Perform general clean-up of job sites.
4. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Methods, materials and equipment used in various grounds maintenance activities.
Fertilizers and their proper usages/applications.
Plant and tree diseases, pests common to the area and the methods used in their control.
Herbicides and their proper usages/applications.
Maintenance methos and techniques.
Operational hazards and standard safety practices.
Ability to:
Use required tools in the performance of grounds and maintenance duties.
Operate motor vehicle.
Properly apply herbicides and pesticides.
Understand and follow written and/or oral instructions.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted on the course of work.
Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for successful job performance.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Environmental Conditions:
Field environment; variable weather conditions; travel from site to site; exposures to noise, dust, grease, oils, and fumes.
Physical Conditions:
Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining a physical condition necessary for heavy and moderate lifting, bending stooping, kneeling, crawling, operating motorized equipment vehicles.
