Paramedic, Full Time Days Piedmont Eastside Medical Center- Emergency Dept ~ 38 bed Emergency Department that sees on average 160 patients a day that present with various acuities. ~ We are a primary Stroke and Stemi receiving facility that is able to intervene and administer thrombolytics. ~ Two helicopter pads on campus for utilization ~ Behavioral Health Pod ~ We have Charge nurses, ED Flow Coordinators, Paramedics, ED Techs, PCTs, Mental Health Technicians and Unit Secretaries who work in close collaboration with the ED Providers to provide exceptional care ~ All staff members must have a BLS to work in this unit. The Paramedic, under the supervision of the Professional Registered Nurse and/or Physician is responsible for facilitating age-appropriate, culturally and ethnically sensitive care, maintaining a safe environment, educating patients and their families, collecting information, communicating effectively, and utilizing technology. The Paramedic participates in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the delivery of health care services and task. The role of the Paramedic Nurse Extender also, includes patient advocacy, teaching, performance improvement, and the oversight of unlicensed personnel. Working knowledge of venous blood sampling, and cardiac monitor knowledge.Working knowledge of the body's systems to include neurological, respiratory, cardiac, gastrointestinal, primary and secondary trauma assessment.Must have strong customer service, interpersonal skills and be able to work with a team. Start IV'S, IO'S & draw blood.May be required to monitor patients for arrhythmias and report abnormal rhythms and changes immediately to Charge Nurse and Nurse KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES- Skill and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in-writing.- Skill and ability in Microsoft Office applications.
