Pay: $28.00 - $30.00/hour (based on experience)

Position Overview

The Forklift / Fleet Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing AHI’s fleet of diesel sit-down forklifts, piggyback (truck-mounted) forklifts, and trailers.

This is a hands-on, production-critical role. Equipment downtime directly impacts operations and customer deliveries.

Work Schedule

• Monday-Friday: 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM
• Full-time, non-exempt hourly position; eligible for overtime after 40 hours
• Overtime and weekend work may be required based on operational needs

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel forklifts, piggyback forklifts, and trailers
• Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections on equipment
• Repair hydraulic, electrical, fuel, brake, and mechanical systems
• Respond to breakdowns quickly to minimize downtime
• Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records
• Keep shop and work areas clean, organized, and safe
• Identify recurring issues and implement long-term solutions
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures

Required Skills and Experience (Non-Negotiable)

• Proven experience repairing diesel forklifts (sit-down) and piggyback forklifts
• Experience working on trailers (brakes, lights, basic repairs)
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills (hydraulics, electrical, diesel systems)
• Ability to diagnose and repair equipment independently without constant supervision
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to pass a drug screen and background check

If you do not have forklift and trailer repair experience, this position is not a fit.

• The mechanic takes ownership and solves problems proactively

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting
• Must be able to lift 50+ lbs regularly
• Ability to work in a shop and outdoor environment
