Job Description

Our client, in the food production industry, is seeking a detail-oriented and scientifically-minded Food Technologist to join their team near Cincinnati. In this role, you will be the guardian of product quality and innovation, ensuring that every item leaving the facility meets the highest standards of safety, taste, and regulatory compliance. You will work at the intersection of science and production, collaborating with cross-functional teams to refine existing formulas and scale new product concepts.

Responsibilities

• Product Development & Optimization: Assist in the development of new food products and the improvement of existing recipes to enhance flavor, texture, and shelf-life.

• Quality Assurance & Testing: Perform standardized qualitative and quantitative tests to determine physical or chemical properties of food products (e.g., pH, viscosity, moisture, and sensory analysis).

• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all products and processes adhere to FDA, USDA, and local health regulations, including the maintenance of accurate HACCP and GMP documentation.

• Production Support: Monitor large-scale production runs to ensure formulas are followed precisely and troubleshoot any deviations in product consistency.

• Supplier & Ingredient Management: Evaluate raw materials and ingredients from suppliers to ensure they meet internal quality specifications.

• Lab Maintenance: Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure precise measurements and a sterile working environment.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Production, Marketing, and Quality Control departments to transition products from the benchtop to the manufacturing floor.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: * Bachelors Degree required, preferably in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related scientific field.

• Experience: * 0–3 years of experience in a food manufacturing or laboratory environment (internship experience in food production is highly valued).

• Management & Leadership: * Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team.

• Process Oversight: * Working knowledge of GFSI standards (SQF or BRC) and HACCP principles.

• Specific Skills: * Proficiency in sensory evaluation (taste, smell, and texture analysis).

• Additional Requirements: * Must be comfortable working in both a laboratory setting and a fast-paced production floor environment.
