Job Title: Part-Time Food Science Intern / Undergraduate Food Scientist
Location: Spokane, WA
Pay: $23.75/hr | Assignment: ~1 year | Part-Time (12–15 hrs/week)

About the Role

We’re looking for a Part-Time Undergraduate Food Scientist to join our R&D team at a commercial bakery mix facility. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain real-world experience in product development, testing, and formulation for bakery mixes like cakes, muffins, breads, cookies, glazes, and icings.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare bench-top prototypes for dry and wet mixes
  • Conduct experiments and baking trials following R&D protocols
  • Perform basic analytical measurements (pH, moisture, water activity, viscosity)
  • Support shelf-life and stability studies
  • Maintain lab records, digital files, and sample inventory
  • Assist with pilot-scale trials and line tests

What We’re Looking For

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or related field
  • Basic knowledge of food chemistry, baking science, or ingredient functionality
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Comfortable in lab and production environments
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
  • Flexible schedule for 12–15 hours/week
