AG Consulting Engineering, PC (AG), a design, engineering, and construction management firm, is looking for an experienced Fire Protection Inspector for several PATH projects in the New York metro area.

Responsibilities:
Firestopping:
Firestopping inspector shall ensure that the firestop installer firm contracted by the Authority carries out its work in accordance with the contract specifications. The inspector must be thoroughly familiar with these specifications as well as the Contract Drawings.
The inspector shall keep a detailed and accurate log of daily work in a document format provided by the Authority called a Firestopping Special Inspection Report. The inspector must keep daily contact with the Authority’s Materials Supervisor and/or the fire protection engineer to discuss field observations and current project plans and requirements.
The inspector shall field verify that approved submittal documents such as tested UL System Designs or Engineering Judgments (EJ) match the field firestopping conditions. The fire ratings of these field firestopping installations shall meet or exceed the minimum hourly fire rating of the approved tested UL Systems or EJ assemblies.
The inspector shall field verify that approved submittal documents such as tested UL System Designs or Engineering Judgments meet the requirements for the size of the opening, the annular space, the thickness and quantity of sealant, type of insulation, safing material, the amount (percentage) of compression, firestopping devices and specified accessory items such as anchors, fasteners, plates and securing devices.
Any deviations from a listed system will result in a failed system, and a Non-Conformance Report (NCR) shall be generated by the inspector.
The inspector shall verify compliance of the firestop installation by observing the installation process and by recording measurements of the substrates and materials being installed or by destructive examination of completed installations.
The frequency of Inspection for through penetrations shall be conducted as per ASTM E 2174, Section 10. Preference shall be to perform witnessed inspections to definitively verify the components installed.
The frequency of Inspection for joint firestopping shall be conducted as per ASTM E 2393, Section 10. Preference shall be to perform witnessed inspections to definitively verify the components installed.
Fireproofing
The inspector shall verify compliance of the fireproofing assemblies by observing the installation process and by recording measurements of the substrates and materials being installed in accordance with ASTM E 736, ASTM E 605, Technical Manual 12-A and 12-B by The Association of the Wall and Ceiling Industries.
The frequency of Inspection for fireproofing thicknesses, density and bond shall be conducted at minimum, as delineated per ASTM E 736 and ASTM E 605.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 6 years’ experience with Fire Protection systems is required.
ICC Spray-Applied Fireproofing Inspector Certification
Working knowledge of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems.
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering preferred.
Experienced dealing with MEP subcontracts and subcontractors.
Excellent communication skills.
Team player.
Highly organized and detailed.
