Job Summary:
VFS Fire & Security Services (VFS) is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm & Sprinkler Inspector – Level III to perform and lead advanced inspections, troubleshooting, service, and installation support for fire alarm and sprinkler systems. This senior‑level role ensures full compliance with NFPA standards, state and local regulations, and company quality expectations. The Level III Inspector also provides mentorship to junior inspectors and serves as a technical resource on complex or high‑impact projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct advanced inspections and functional testing of fire alarm and sprinkler systems in accordance with NFPA 72, NFPA 25, and applicable codes and standards.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform repairs on a wide range of fire alarm and sprinkler system components.
- Program, commission, and perform final acceptance testing for new system installations.
- Document inspections, deficiencies, corrective actions, and recommendations accurately and thoroughly.
- Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and on‑the‑job training to Level I and Level II Inspectors.
- Communicate system conditions, corrective actions, and upgrade recommendations clearly to customers.
- Collaborate with project, service, and design teams to verify system specifications, drawings, and code compliance.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and stocked inventory in the company vehicle to support service readiness.
- Evaluate customer systems and identify opportunities for improvements, upgrades, or additional services.
- Provide emergency troubleshooting and after‑hours support as required.
- Work safely at heights, on ladders, lifts, rooftops, and in confined spaces as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with fire alarm and sprinkler systems.
- Experience performing advanced inspections, troubleshooting, layout interpretation, or related project activities.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Windows, Outlook, iOS/Android platforms, and applicable industry tools.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret technical diagrams, system layouts, and code‑related documentation.
- Ability to meet company driving eligibility requirements, including holding a valid driver's license and maintaining an acceptable motor vehicle record.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5–10 years of experience with fire alarm and sprinkler systems.
- NICET III Certification in Fire Alarm Systems or Sprinkler Systems.
- Background in low‑voltage electronics, alarms, or electrical engineering.
- Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, or team‑lead responsibilities in previous roles.
This pay range reflects the compensation rate Fortis Fire & Safety reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors such as experience and skillset. This role may require extended periods of sitting or standing, movement around the office or job site, and operation of standard equipment. Physical activities can include reaching, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 75 lbs. Field positions may involve heavy lifting, working in varying climates (including outdoor conditions), construction or low-voltage environments, and exposure to dust, noise, or confined spaces. Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required. Some roles may require travel.
