Essential Functions (Principal Duties and Job Responsibilities):
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, performance drivers, and strategic insights.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for leadership
- Develop and maintain financial dashboards, automated reports, and data visualization tools.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics
- Support budget development, forecasting, and long-range financial planning
- Assist with internal and external reporting requirements
Data Analysis & Visualization
- Collect, clean, and analyze large datasets from multiple sources
- Develop dashboards, models, and reports to communicate insights clearly
- Identify trends, risks, and opportunities using quantitative analysis
- Extract, validate, and integrate data from financial systems, ERP platforms, and reporting databases.
- Support forecasting models using historical and predictive data analysis.
Strategic & Operational Support
- Partner with department leaders to support operational and financial goals
- Conduct cost-benefit, ROI, and scenario analyses
- Support business cases, grants, contracts, or investment decisions
- Provide ad hoc analysis to support leadership initiatives
- Improve reporting efficiency through automation, data transformation, and system enhancements.
- Ensure data integrity, consistency, and governance across financial reporting processes.
- Support implementation and optimization of financial systems and tools
- Partner with finance, IT, and institutional leadership to translate data into actionable recommendations.
- Document processes and maintain analytical models
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Experience working with large datasets and financial data; Advanced spreadsheet and data analysis skills
- Experience with reporting or visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms)
- Ability to extract and analyze data from financial systems or databases
- Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills
- Ability to translate data into actionable insights
- Exceptional analytical and financial modeling skills
- Strong written communication and presentation skills; comfortable and experienced
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Preferred:
- Strong proficiency in SQL, data modeling, or automation tools
- Expertise in building dashboards or automated reporting solutions
- Strong proficiency in supporting budgeting or financial planning processes, financial reporting, and forecasting
- Expertise in financial software systems such as WorkDay, Adaptive Planning, or other enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools
Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics, or related field
- 3-5 years of experience in financial analysis, data analysis, or related roles
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
- Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with financial modeling
- Experience working with large datasets and multiple data sources
Education and Experience Preferred:
- Master's degree (MBA, MS Finance, Data Analytics, or similar)
- 6-10 years of progressively responsible experience in financial modeling and forecasting (scenario analysis, a plus)
- Experience in complex organizations (universities, healthcare systems, or large nonprofits)
- Proficiency in tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, or R
- Knowledge of ERP systems (Workday, PeopleSoft, Oracle, SAP, etc.)
- Experience supporting executive leadership or strategic planning initiatives
