Role Overview
The Financial Analyst II will serve as a Capital Analyst within the Project Intake team, supporting the evaluation and financial classification of software-related capital projects. This role plays a key part in ensuring compliance with internal capitalization policies and applicable accounting standards while enabling accurate CapEx vs. OpEx determinations.
The analyst acts as a liaison between project teams, IT, Finance, and Capital Asset Accounting (CAA), translating technical project details into clear, well-documented financial recommendations. This is a highly analytical, detail-oriented role with growing exposure to automation and AI-enabled tools.
Responsibilities:
- Review incoming project intake requests to ensure alignment with capital policy and strategic objectives
- Validate completeness and accuracy of Statements of Work (SOWs), contracts, and supporting documentation
- Analyze project deliverables and cost structures to determine appropriate CapEx vs. OpEx classification
- Prepare clear financial documentation and coding recommendations for Capital Asset Accounting (CAA)
- Partner closely with IT teams, Finance, and Project Managers to support accurate intake and financial classification
- Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ensure adherence to internal capital software policies and regulatory requirements (FASB, GAAP)
- Maintain detailed records to support audit readiness and financial reporting
- Support and develop automation opportunities within intake and classification workflows, including use of Microsoft Copilot and AI-based tools (bots)
- Contribute to continuous process improvement within the Project Intake function
- 3–6 years of relevant experience in capital analysis, IT financial governance, or similar roles
- 1–2 years of experience working with Microsoft Copilot and AI-based automation tools (bots)
- Exposure to large-scale software projects and financial compliance frameworks (FASB, GAAP)
- Strong understanding of CapEx vs. OpEx principles and financial governance
- Familiarity with internal-use software capitalization concepts
- Knowledge of IT project lifecycles and software implementation practices
- Experience reviewing contracts and Statements of Work
- Background in fixed assets, capital project accounting, or budgeting preferred
- Comfort leveraging automation and AI tools to improve workflows
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams
- Comfortable exercising independent judgment in complex scenarios
- Organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Finance, or related field
