Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or another quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in financial planning and analysis (FP&A), corporate finance, accounting, or a related function.
  • Experience with accounting principles, financial planning and analysis processes, and using standard finance systems (e.g., SAP).
  • Experience partnering with finance and non-finance business stakeholders and budget owners.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with SQL (or similar query languages) and modern data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker).
  • Experience cultivating and managing cross-functional relationships
  • Familiarity with technology or developer ecosystem business models.
  • Ability to drive operational efficiencies in an evolving environment.
  • Ability to articulate financial narratives to executive leadership.
  • Demonstrated investigative and business judgment skills.

About the job

In this role, you will be a partner responsible for managing the profit and loss (P&L) and driving core financial processes that inform strategic decisions across the Google Play business. Your primary focus will be on financial planning and analysis. You will drive accurate forecasting, perform variance analysis (business, COGS, and OpEx), and manage standardized monthly and quarterly P&L reporting. You will translate financial metrics into actionable business insights for executive leaders.

A key component of this role involves strategic investment. You will support the annual planning and multi-year planning cycles by collecting budget requests, reviewing allocation models, and recommending capital investments to ensure resource deployment maximizes returns. You will also handle stakeholder management by delivering standardized and ad-hoc reporting and analysis to Play leadership, budget owners, central finance, and Controllership. You will drive process optimization by serving as the team's dedicated SAP super user and primary point of contact for efficiency projects. This includes partnering with central teams to automate and streamline spend management, leveraging AI tools for system enhancements. You will balance detailed execution with strategic thought to optimize investment and mitigate financial risk for a business reaching billions of users.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $95,000-$135,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Execute and manage core financial processes, including forecasting, month-end close, standardized profit and loss reporting, and in-depth variance analysis for the Google Play business.
  • Act as a key point of contact, providing support to budget owners on day-to-day spend approvals, cost tracking, and annual budget planning workstreams.
  • Support planning cycles by analyzing spend trends, assisting in the modeling of multi-year financial plans, and helping to develop capital allocation recommendations.
  • Serve as the team's dedicated SAP super user to support efficiency projects, partnering with central teams to automate spend management and implement enhancements using AI tools.
  • Prepare high-quality standardized and ad-hoc reports and assist in presenting key financial insights to Play leadership, cross-functional partners, and controllership.
