Key Responsibilities of the Finance Manager

As a Finance Manager, you will:

  • Prepare, review, and submit grant financial reports in alignment with federal, state, local, and private funder requirements
  • Conduct variance analysis, grant budget monitoring, forecasting, and expenditure alignment
  • Oversee financial tracking, reporting, and compliance across the full grant portfolio
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes as a Finance Manager
  • Support leadership by preparing cash flow analysis, projections, and financial modeling
  • Maintain compliance with GAAP and all relevant accounting standards
  • Supervise finance team members including Accounts Payable & Receivable and Payroll functions
  • Provide mentorship, training, and development for finance staff
  • Support audits, internal controls, and cross‑departmental reconciliation
  • Strengthen procedures and internal controls as an effective Finance Manager
  • Collaborate closely with programs and development teams to ensure accurate financial coding and reporting
  • Maintain strict confidentiality with sensitive financial information

Required Qualifications of the Finance Manager

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive finance/accounting experience, including at least 2 years with grant reporting
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit accounting, and grant compliance
  • Proven experience as a Finance Manager supporting financial operations and analysis
  • CPA strongly preferred or actively pursuing
  • Supervisory experience with the ability to develop and support staff
  • Ability to manage confidential information with tact and discretion
