Field Service Engineer – Materials Testing Systems
Join an established global leader in materials and component testing technology. We provide high-precision testing solutions to the world’s most innovative sectors, including aerospace, medical devices, automotive, and elite research academia.
We are seeking a technically-minded Field Service Engineer based in Texas (either Texas West or Texas East) to support our growing North American install base. This is a hands-on role perfect for those who enjoy solving complex electromechanical puzzles, traveling to diverse customer sites, and working with world-class engineering standards.
The Role
As a Field Service Engineer, you will be the face of the company, ensuring our customers’ testing systems—ranging from universal testing machines to torsion systems and drop-weight towers—are performing at peak precision.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation & Repair: Install, service, and repair complex electromechanical, electronic, and hydraulic testing systems.
Calibration: Perform high-level calibration work in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 and A2LA standards.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose issues down to the component level using schematics, multimeters, and oscilloscopes.
Customer Training: Educate users on equipment operation, testing software, and basic maintenance.
Documentation: Prepare detailed service and calibration reports to ensure customer quality compliance.
Candidate Requirements
We are looking for a "problem-solver" who is comfortable working independently in the field. Veterans with experience in electronics or electromechanical systems (3-phase power) are highly encouraged to apply - even if currently transitioning to the private sector.
Technical Proficiency: Strong ability to troubleshoot electromechanical and electronic systems. You must be able to read schematics and use diagnostic tools (multimeter/oscilloscope).
Electrical Knowledge: Practical experience working with 3-phase power.
Travel Flexibility: Ability and willingness to travel extensively (up to 80%), primarily overnight. Travel is scheduled within the standard work week; weekend travel is very rare.
Professionalism: Excellent communication skills with a customer-centric mindset. You will be working directly with engineers and lab managers.
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in an engineering/technical discipline is preferred, but equivalent field experience or military technical training is highly valued.
Why Join Us?
Stability & Growth: Work for a private, family-owned enterprise with an over 150-year legacy and an aggressive growth plan for North America.
Training: Receive high-end, structured training on specialized testing methods and ISO standards.
Compensation: Competitive base salary (up to $70k) plus a quarterly performance bonus for a total of $75K.
Full Support: Company vehicle, full tool kit, and all travel expenses covered.
Work-Life Balance: Travel time is considered part of your 8-hour workday, not extra time.
Benefits: Comprehensive package including Medical/Dental/Vision, 401(k) with company match, and generous PTO/Holiday schedule.
