Field Project Engineer
Responsibilities:
Construction & Field Execution
- Lead daily on-site construction and installation activities across, utilities, and process equipment scopes.
- Coordinate mechanical, electrical, millwright, piping and process contractors and vendor installation supervisors.
- Supervise field execution of major equipment installations (e.g., extruders, calendars, mixers, material handling systems, dust collection, utilities, etc.).
- Ensure work is completed per drawings, specifications , and project standards.
- Identify and resolve constructability issues, clashes, and field conflicts.
- Drive short-interval planning, daily/weekly work plans, and look-ahead schedules.
- Review drawings, RFIs, submittals, and redlines/as-builts from a field perspective
- Serve as the field interface between design, vendors, and construction.
- Support troubleshooting during installation, commissioning, and startup coordination.
- Ensure proper documentation of changes and field modifications.
Schedule, Cost & Progress Control
- Track installation progress against the project schedule and critical path.
- Coordinate with project management to recover delays and optimize sequencing.
- Support cost control by monitoring change orders, extra work, and field productivity. • Provide accurate field progress reporting, forecasts, and risk flags.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Enforce site safety rules, contractor safety programs, and Sika EHS standards.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and permits (OSHA, NFPA, NEC, etc.).
- Drive quality inspections, punch lists, and corrective actions.
- Verify installations meet design plans and manufacturer requirements.
Qualifications
- 5-7 years of experience in industrial construction, manufacturing facilities, or process plants (required)
- Strong experience with mechanical and electrical equipment installation in industrial environments. (required)
- Proven experience leading field execution for large, complex projects (required).
- Solid understanding of construction sequencing, safety management, and contractor coordination (required).
- Competence in reading and interpreting P&IDs, layout drawings, electrical onelines, and equipment GA drawings (required).
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills (required)
- Willingness to be full-time on site during, installation, commissioning and startup phases. (required)
- Experience with plastics, PVC, extrusion, calendaring, or similar process industries.(preferred)
- Background as a Construction Superintendent, Field Engineer, or Installation Manager on greenfield projects. (preferred)
- Familiarity with commissioning, startup, and performance testing of process equipment. (preferred)
- Experience working with European OEMs and complex equipment packages (preferred).
