Fiber Splicing Subject Matter Expert (SME) / Splicing Manager
Location: WFH Flexible / Travel <50% Ideal location:  PNW. Or even Denver

About the Role
We are hiring an experienced and highly skilled Fiber Splicing Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead all splicing standards, quality control, and customer deliverables across our client’s organization. This is a pivotal role for a seasoned splicer or field leader who wants to step off the road and into a position where their expertise shapes how work is done company wide.
The SME will serve as the internal authority on fiber splicing best practices, oversee the creation of splicing packages, and ensure the highest level of quality for our customers. This individual will also interpret and compile OTDR data, support field teams, and help establish consistent processes and documentation. You will set standards, Quality control (QC) and create splicing packages for our clients’customers

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as primary Subject Matter Expert for all fiber splicing activities.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain splicing standards, procedures, and quality guidelines.
  • Create complete, accurate splicing packages for customers, including documentation, schematics, and supporting materials.
  • Perform OTDR trace interpretation, analyze results, and compile clear reports for clients.
  • Conduct quality control reviews of splicing work performed by internal teams and subcontractors.
  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and guidance to field personnel.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and customers to ensure alignment on splicing requirements.
  • Travel to project sites as needed (less than 50%) for audits, QC, and field validation.
  • Maintain organized digital records, documentation, and project files.
What Will Catch Our Eye: 
  • Extensive hands-on fiber splicing experience (construction, restoration, FTTH, backbone, etc.).
  • Strong ability to read, interpret, and analyze OTDR data and other fiber testing results.
  • Proven experience creating splicing documentation, diagrams, or packages.
  • High proficiency with PC usage, digital tools, and documentation platforms.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and serve as the company’s go-to expert.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (<50%).
  • We are open to all qualified candidates, but this could be an Ideal for a retired splicer, a lead splicer, or a current field technician looking to transition into a leadership and standards-focused role.
