Chewelah Painting is a family-owned, regional painting company serving five counties and Lake Coeur d’Alene. Our services include interior and exterior painting, deck sanding and refinishing, pre-finish work, and log home refinishing. We are the only Sashco-Certified Zero Failures company in eastern Washington qualified to refinish and chink log homes. We’re always looking to add dynamic people to our team!

EXPERIENCED HOUSE PAINTER JOB DESCRIPTION

Organizational Relationships:
Reports to: Job Leader and Field Supervisor
Helps to supervise: Trainees
Scope of Responsibility:
Efficiently carry out paint-related duties in a professional, workmanlike manner. Ensure that all duties are completed within the time frame prescribed by the Job Leader. Participate in all activities related to the accomplishment of each project. Attend all safety and general meetings.
Safety:
All employees are required to conduct themselves in a safe manner at all times to ensure the safety of their customers and themselves, as set forth in the Chewelah Painting Employee Handbook and Safety Manual. Painters must have clear understanding of job-site safety. The painter is responsible for the safety and performance of every man on the crew in the absence of a Job Leader. All employees must complete an initial safety training prior to the first day of physical work.
Primary Skills :
Maintain a positive attitude and growth mindset, move with purpose, Trainee skill set, ladder use (2+stories), power equipment use, walls, ceilings, doors, windows, trim, siding, shutters, fascia, decks, log homes
Duties:
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness & organization
- Possess knowledge of products (primers, paints, stains and their appropriate applications)
- Know the most efficient way to paint the item you are painting (i.e. brush & roll vs. mask and spray)
- Maintain a full set of production tools
- Have the ability to move and use ladders and power equipment (i.e. sanders, sprayers, ladders up to 32’, etc.)
- Have a clear understanding of Trainee/preparation procedures (i.e. sanding, caulking, sealing, etc.)
- Be an efficient masker with plastic, paper, and drops
- Be able to perform all painting functions (i.e. paint windows, doors, soffits, fascia, shutters, etc.)
- The painter is to monitor attendance, appearance, language, proper use of equipment for themselves and other crew members in the absence of a Job Leader or Field Supervisor
- It is the painter’s responsibility to help Job Leaders and Field Supervisor train all Trainees
- Deal with customers’ questions and concerns on the job-site in absence of Job Leader and/or Field Supervisor
- In the absence of a Job Lead or Field Supervisor lay out the sequence of the day, monitor the performance and pace of the Trainees
Mental/Physical Demands:
- Frequent walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching
- Occasional heavy lifting and carrying, crawling, balancing, reaching, twisting
- Repetitive motion of the shoulders, wrists, arms
- Exposure to extreme temperatures.
- Frequent/daily driving to job-sites.

- Provide your own transportation to and from the worksite or shop. Be ready at pick-up time, if you are late you are on your own to get to the job.
- Be on time. Every time.
- STAY OFF OF YOUR PHONE WHILE WORKING. PERSONAL TEXTING AND PHONE CALLS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED AND COULD RESULT IN TERMINATION.
- Bring your lunch. Don't expect anyone to go out and get your lunch. Lunch is 30 minutes inclusive of travel and eating.
- Be reliable, present good work ethic, high integrity and drug free
- Clean presentable appearance expected at all times
- Maintain dress code according to the standards in Chewelah Painting Employee Handbook. Must wear clean Chewelah Painting shirt, white painter’s pants, khaki pants or shorts. No cutoffs or tank tops.
- Attend all safety and training seminars
- Good technical skills in terms of using hand & power tools
- Have tools with you. Keep track of your tools. You should not ever need to borrow tools from a coworker. It is your responsibility to maintain your own set of hand tools to remain effective, efficient, and employable.
- Be able to communicate basic work requirements in English
