Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 7 years of experience in communications, social media, public affairs, media relations or equivalent.
- Experience managing social media accounts across multiple social platforms.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in creative writing and storytelling across formats and media.
- Ability to advocate for an executive and work with executive stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-moving environment, and to adapt quickly, prioritize and deliver on projects simultaneously.
- Excellent program management skills, with effective attention to detail.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
About the job
As a member of the Global Communications & Public Affairs team, you will work cross-functionally to help communicate with journalists and other thought leaders; devise specific communications materials and campaigns; engage in face-to-face meetings with commentators and other opinion formers; and develop print and web-based material supporting these campaigns. We're looking for great communicators who can understand complex issues and explain them in person and also via well written, simple blog posts, FAQs, video scripts and more.
Our team partners with leaders across Google's Ads and Commerce, Business and Marketing organizations. We engage the business community using innovative communications tactics and bring to life how businesses transform using AI.
We help inform and educate users, advertisers, partners, opinion leaders--and our own employees--about the benefits of Google's products, our distinctive company culture/values and our approach to the big public policy issues of the day. You are quick-witted, entrepreneurial and intellectually curious. To succeed in this role, you are willing to try new things and can manage numerous projects with tight deadlines. Things happen quickly at Google, and to do great work, you need to be an enthusiastic team player who can work cross-functionally with partners across PR, Communications, Marketing, Product, and beyond.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $134,000-$196,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Lead strategic communications programs across external communications channels for select leaders from GBO, Marketing, Ads and Commerce.
- Own the program management of bespoke execution plans for select executives and report on progress.
- Develop engaging content (social media videos and copy, opinion pieces, blog posts, press briefings, etc.) to tell our story to key audiences.
- Keep knowledge on social conversations and design engagement growth strategies and tactics. Develop creative briefs for bespoke social-first video content and manage outside resource for complex assets or create simple video and visual content, depending on needs.
- Set up processes and coordinate with cross-functional partners to deliver on plans. Share expertise and advise colleagues across the team.
