This is a full-time, on-site position located in Akron, OH.
Summary
The Executive Assistant provides key administrative, strategic, and operational support to the Vice President of Transmission Strategy & Engagement, as well as provides administrative support to other leaders in the FirstEnergy Transmission organization. This role requires exceptional judgment, professionalism, and the ability to operate as a seamless extension of the executive. The ideal candidate is proactive, highly organized, skilled at managing complex relationships, and capable of coordinating activities on behalf of the executive in internal settings as well as supporting executive activities related to external stakeholder engagement.
Responsibilities
Safety
- Demonstrate a solid commitment to all aspects of safety, including maintaining a safe workplace for coworkers.
Executive Support & Administration
- Provide sophisticated calendar and travel management, including prioritizing inquiries, troubleshooting conflicts, and making strategic recommendations to ensure efficient daily scheduling.
- Complete a broad range of administrative tasks, including collecting and preparing information for meetings, composing correspondence, designing and producing complex documents and presentations, managing contact lists, arranging travel, completing expense reports, and supporting special projects.
- Keep the senior leader well informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities; ensure timely and appropriate follow-up.
- Maintain discretion and confidentiality while managing sensitive information and materials.
- Organize and maintain electronic and hard‑copy filing systems.
- Support other executives as needed and perform additional duties as assigned.
Internal Meeting Leadership & Coordination
- Lead and facilitate internal meetings on behalf of the senior leader, including agenda creation, coordination with presenters, time management, documentation of key decisions, and post-meeting action tracking.
- Represent the executive's priorities and expectations in internal forums to drive alignment and accountability.
- Anticipate issues requiring executive attention and proactively escalate as appropriate.
- Ensure meeting preparation materials, briefings, and background documents are complete, accurate, and strategically aligned.
External Stakeholder Engagement
- Coordinate and manage external stakeholder engagements, including interactions with industry partners, community leaders, government officials, customers, and other external parties.
- Prepare executive briefs, talking points, background materials, and follow-up plans for all external interactions.
- Serve as a professional representative of the executive in high‑visibility engagements, maintaining executive presence and sound judgment.
- Develop and maintain stakeholder tracking systems to ensure continuity, effective follow‑through, and alignment with strategic engagement objectives.
- Communicate directly on behalf of the executive with internal and external audiences, including outside normal business hours as needed.
Strategic Partnership & Operational Support
- Serve as a trusted partner to the senior leader by anticipating needs, identifying priorities, managing competing demands, and independently resolving issues.
- Read, research, collect, and analyze information to support executive decision-making.
- Exercise exceptional business acumen and judgment to manage complex situations with minimal guidance.
- Support cross-functional coordination and follow-through on major initiatives, ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met.
- Draft, refine, or review internal and external communications, ensuring clarity, tone consistency, and alignment with strategic priorities.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 7-10 years of comparable experience.
- Must pass the company Support and Administrative Selection System (SASS) test.
- Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook,
