Key Responsibilities

• Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates.
• Determine material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs for manufacturing projects.
• Collaborate with sales, engineering, and production teams to gather necessary information for quotes.
• Prepare detailed proposals and bid packages for potential customers.
• Maintain and update cost databases, pricing models, and historical data for future estimates.
• Identify and assess potential risks and opportunities that may impact project costs.
• Utilize ERP and estimating software to streamline the quotation process.

Recommended Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of experience in cost estimating within a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, fabrication, assembly, welding) and associated cost drivers.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems, Microsoft Excel, and dedicated estimating software.
• Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related technical field.

Bonus Qualifications

• Proficiency with ERP systems or specialized estimating software (e.g., Costimator).
• Experience using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for design review and material take-offs.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Background in a specific manufacturing process such as CNC machining, fabrication, or injection molding.
• Certification in cost engineering or project management.
