Key Responsibilities

• Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and sales teams to gather necessary data for comprehensive quoting.
• Calculate and apply direct costs, indirect costs, overheads, and profit margins to develop competitive price proposals.
• Source and obtain quotes from suppliers for raw materials, components, and outsourced manufacturing services.
• Utilize estimating software and company databases to maintain and update cost information and historical data.
• Present detailed cost breakdowns and justifications to management and sales for review and approval.
• Identify and recommend cost-reduction opportunities through process improvements or alternative materials/methods.

Recommended Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in cost estimating within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and Bills of Material (BOMs).
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and associated labor costs.
• Advanced competency with Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP/MRP systems.
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with advanced CAD software for detailed material take-offs.
• Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification or experience.
• Proficiency with specific ERP modules (e.g., cost accounting, production planning).
• Prior experience in a manufacturing production or engineering role.
