Estate Planning Attorney (Of Counsel / Contract Attorney)

The Wagon Legacy is a growing estate planning, trust administration, and probate law firm serving families across California. We are a relationship-driven, values-based firm focused on making the planning process clear, compassionate, and efficient for clients.

As our practice continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced attorney to join us in an Of Counsel / Contract Attorney capacity to support our team on a flexible, as-needed basis.

The Opportunity

This role is ideal for an experienced estate planning attorney—potentially a semi-retired professional or someone seeking reduced hours—who enjoys practicing law but is looking for flexibility and meaningful client impact without the demands of a full-time role.

You will work closely with our team to support overflow work, provide legal review, and assist with more complex planning and administration matters.

Competitive hourly or per-project compensation, commensurate with experience. 

$65 - $150 hourly

• Review and revise estate planning documents (revocable trusts, wills, powers of attorney, advance directives)
• Assist with trust administration and probate matters as needed (no litigation, as we do not handle litigation)
• Provide guidance on more complex planning strategies
• Conduct client meetings
• Collaborate with our internal team (attorneys, paralegals, and admin staff) to ensure high-quality client service

• Active California Bar license (required)
• 5+ years of experience in estate planning and/or trust administration
• Strong drafting and issue-spotting skills
• Comfortable working in a collaborative, team-based environment
• Ability to work independently and manage assignments with minimal oversight
• Tech-comfortable (Zoom, document review, practice management systems)
